Oak Park Students Wow in Recycling Costume Contest!

Students in all grades at Oak Park Elementary School took part in the school's annual Recycling Costume Contest on Oct. 27. The initiative is hosted by the school's Recycling Club, led by moderators Ms. Medrano and Ms. Pinner.

Students and their families worked to create great costumes out of reusable materials, and the resulting costumes spanned many different themes. Students were dressed as characters such as SpongeBob, Emmet from "The LEGO Movie," Godzilla, and Super Mario; food items such as a bag of Jelly Belly jelly beans, a box of popcorn, a vending machine filled with different snack options, and a table set for a dinner of spaghetti and meatballs; and other amazing ideas including a hot air balloon, robots, an astronaut, an angel, a contestant on the TV show "Master Chef," and a mushroom.

The students walked around the hallways of the school for the initial part of the contest to the cheers and applause of their fellow students and teachers.
